20092009200920092009

today i learned how easily an outfit can morph into a get-up.
it isn't pretty...in pink.
head to toe hot pink has ajummas shielding their children's eyes.
o please o please o please, they pray
please do not let this creature be my child's teacher.
(and by the way, of course this was only my in transit speedy bicycle ensemble)
for reference, here's my new korean coat, which i think when paired with sane bottoms, not perfectly matching skinny jeans, is quite a lovely item.

look how geeky i look - i really like this coat!
i won't post the entire thing because i really am oddly embarrassed about this (which i haven't felt since 10th grade when i was the only one in my class who did hawaiian day or some other dumb spirit day and i did it WAY too big)
and the fact that i woke up at 7 instead of 11 for the weird winter schedule really really is no excuse.

i realized i am very bad at documenting my life here.
big things have happened, but i'd rather write about my fashion don'ts.
i went to the korean hawaii for christmas and that was great and also a little sad but i don't really feel like giving the itinerary. all i care to mention are:
a giant hedge maze with a skinny young korean guy on stilts who gave me candy while dressed as a ramshackle santa
a really sweet lava tube cave
a jesus birthday cake
the octopus that you eat while they're still moving
freaking out about a rice-filled, family-vacant xmas in korea, crying on xmas eve and regretably scaring my poor sweet boyfriend
the worst museum in the world - basically some old dude's house with some of his stuff inside that he charges $5 for people to see

if you want pictures of this, and you don't have facebook, comment and i'll post some or send you a few.

in other news,
i met two americans at the gym.
they were super-friendly
and it made me a little nervous
which i don't understand since i'm so lonely.
the one said, "you know, usually when you see people (other foreigners) they just look away. like they're too cool to make a friend."
and i kind of laughed nervously because she was talking to one of those people
i.e. ME.
i do want more friends but i want us to share something more than nationality.
i guess we do share more - we met after yoga!
what is my probleeeeeeeem?
i'm gonna follow through on this and call one of them and not just blow them off like i probably would normally do as terrible as that seems.
it's 2009! big changes!

i saw yes man and it actually kind of reinvigorated me!
jim carey.
yes.
jim carey has briefly changed my life omgomgomg.
it was the philosophy of life that made me think arthur is one of the coolest people in the world!
just say yes! don't make excuses! just go for it and have experiences and liiiiiive.
we're young - we can take it!

whoa! that's really flattering, thanks!

On Jim Carrey:

It's about how all of his movies kind of add up to this existential statement of the self. good reading while you're in the mindset!
